Hugh Jackman did not begin his professional life as a Hollywood actor – his path to acting developed gradually.
After graduating from the University of Technology Sydney with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications in 1991, Jackman took an acting course and later trained at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. During his final year at university, a drama class unexpectedly changed his direction and helped him realise how strongly he connected with acting.
After graduating from WAAPA in 1994, Jackman landed his first major professional television role in the Australian drama Correlli in 1995. He subsequently worked in Australian television and theatre before moving into larger stage and film opportunities.
